What it is
Lake, Pond & Shoreline done the Ironside way
Brush and small trees along the water block the view you paid for and make it hard to reach the dock. We mulch the overgrowth, thin the understory and leave a clean, natural-looking bank, working carefully on slopes and right up to the water.
We have opened back yards to the coves on Lake Norman, created trails and water views across 27 large lots at Legacy Point on Lake Wylie, made water views in Rock Hill and reclaimed old ponds and river bottoms.

Are there rules about clearing on Lake Norman or Lake Wylie?
Yes. Lakes on the Catawba River have protected shoreline buffers under state rules and Duke Energy's shoreline management plan, so not everything near the water can be removed. We talk through what you want before we start, and you should check what applies to your lot.
Can you clear a steep bank?
Yes. We use excavator-mounted mulchers to reach steep banks and spots right at the water's edge without driving the machine on the slope.
Will clearing cause erosion?
Mulching leaves the root systems and a layer of mulch in place, which helps hold the bank. It disturbs far less soil than pulling stumps or grading.
Can you reclaim an old pond?
Yes. We have cleaned up overgrown pond banks and dams and turned rough river bottoms back into usable ground.
