What it is

Forestry Mulching done the Ironside way

Forestry mulching uses a tracked machine with a spinning drum of carbide teeth to grind standing trees, brush and vines into mulch right where they grow. Instead of pushing everything into piles, burning it or trucking it away, the material is spread back over the ground as a protective layer.

We run a CAT 275 XE Land Management, ASV machines with Gyro-Trac heads, and excavator-mounted mulchers for banks and tight spots. That mix lets us work everything from a small back yard to hundreds of acres, on slopes, around homes and right up to the water.

Why it works

The benefits

  • No burning or hauling

Material is mulched on site, so there are no burn piles, no dump fees and no trucks running back and forth.

  • Less erosion

The mulch layer shields bare soil from rain and wind and breaks down over time instead of washing away.

  • Selective clearing

Keep the trees you love. We clear around them, so you get the view or the open space without losing the shade.

  • Fast, one-pass work

Cutting, grinding and spreading happen in a single pass, so most jobs are finished in days, not weeks.

FAQ

Forestry Mulching questions

Still have a question? Call (704) 530-3950 or send us a message.

What is forestry mulching?

It is a way of clearing land with a single machine that grinds trees and brush into mulch where they stand. The mulch is left on the ground, so there is nothing to burn or haul off.

How much does forestry mulching cost?

It depends on how thick the vegetation is, the size of the trees, the terrain and how much ground needs clearing. We walk the property and give you a free, no-obligation estimate for the job.

How big a tree can you mulch?

Our mulchers handle brush and small to mid-size trees all day. Larger trees can be dropped and mulched on site too, or removed with a partner tree crew, so the whole job is handled in one visit.

What happens to the mulch?

It stays on the ground as a natural layer that protects the soil from erosion, holds moisture and breaks down over time. Grass and seed can be planted once you are ready.

Will the machines tear up my yard?

Our tracked machines spread their weight and leave far less disturbance than dozers or skid steers with buckets. We plan our route in and out with you before we start.
